We're so excited to welcome you to our practice! Before we tell you about your first visit, please take a few minutes to fill out our New Patient Welcome Form. You can either print this form and bring it with you to your visit or send us an electronic copy over e-mail. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Please note that you'll need Adobe Reader to view, fill out or print the Welcome Form. Safari and chrome users will need to simply fill out the form – unfortunately, it doesn't work with these browsers.
Your Complimentary Initial Examination
Your initial appointment will be a time for us to get to know you, to perform a thorough orthodontic examination, and to discuss your potential treatment options. We want to make things as easy as possible for you, so we're proud to offer it completely free of charge. We know your time is valuable, and to keep things running smoothly we ask that you please help us by providing the following:
- Any X-rays from the past 6 months
- Any medications you're currently taking
- If you have medical or dental insurance, please complete and bring insurance forms. This will save you time and make it easier for us to help you make the most of your benefits
- Completed patient registration forms, either electronic or printed
- Please let us know if you have any medical conditions (e.g. high blood pressure, artificial heart valves, diabetes, etc.)
If you can't make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible by calling our office at (360) 692-4811. This will allow us to reschedule your appointment and ensure that another patient gets to use that time. Please keep in mind that we have a fee for missing appointments without prior notice. If you're calling after hours, go ahead and leave your name, number and a brief message, and we'll get back to you the next morning.
Planning Treatment & Diagnostic Records
If we decide to pursue treatment, we'll schedule you an appointment for taking diagnostic records – things like study models, diagnostic photographs and X-rays. Once we collect these records, Dr. Lingenbrink will use them to design a specialized treatment plan to help you achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. Once this is determined, we'll call you to review your plan, set up your initial appointments, and establish a financial arrangement that works with your budget.
Visits During Treatment
During your treatments, we'll need to see you from time to time – usually every four to eight weeks – to check the status of your treatment and make any necessary adjustments to braces. As always, we ask that you let us know if you need to miss these appointments, follow your care instructions, maintain a strong oral hygiene regimen, and see your dentist regularly. These are all important parts of your overall orthodontic success.
Every patient is different, but orthodontic treatment usually lasts anywhere between six and 30 months depending on the severity of the problem. Once you have your braces off, we'll fit you with a retainer to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bones, gums, and muscles 'set' into place. This is a critical part of keeping your smile, so be sure to wear your retainers as directed!
Orthodontics only works on healthy teeth, so before we start your treatment, please ask your dentist to make sure that all cavities, gum disease, or bone problems have been effectively treated. Keep in mind that you'll need to keep seeing your dentist regularly during treatment – this is the only way to ensure your teeth stay health and cavity-free while you're wearing braces.
